Description
(Dannebrogordenen.) Frederick IX (1947-1972). A high-quality, silver gilt oblong Latin Cross, exhibiting finely enamelled white arms with red borders, displaying detailed royal crowns in each quadrant, the obverse centre presents the royal cipher of Frederick IX , with the inscription GUD OG KONGEN (GOD AND THE KIND) on its arms, the reverse centre displays the crowned W, with the crowned F VI on the twelve o’clock arm, the dates 1219, 1671, and 1808 appear on the other arms, surmounted by the royal cipher crowned with the distinctive Danish royal crown, measuring 41.2mm (w) x 80.8mm (h – inclusive of cross adorned integral ball), weighs 29.69 grams, enamel loss to 6 o'clock arm, light gilt wear, worn on a full length neck ribbon, in extremely fine condition.
Contained in a red case of issue, the exterior bearing a crowned D on the obverse, while the interior feature a silk lid marked A. MICHELSEN, with a partial red velvet medal bed with storage component for ribbon hear the hinges, very fine.
