Denmark, Kingdom. An Order of Dannebrog, Grand Cross Star by Anton Michelsen

(Dannebrogordenen). Instituted in 1671 by Christian V. A seven-pointed radiant silver star, the obverse with a silver gilt oblong Latin Cross, exhibiting finely enamelled white arms with red borders, the obverse centre presents the royal cipher of Christian V, with the inscription GUD OG KONGEN (GOD AND THE KIND) on its arms, the reverse with four threaded nuts where the cross on the obverse is secured to the star, with a barrel hinge, dual “split” vertical pinback and centrally opening round wire catch, marked “925S” for silver content and “AM” for manufacture by Anton Michelsen, measuring 86.14 mm (w) x 80.30 mm (h), weighs 67.63 mm grams, enamels intact, bright silver, in extremely fine condition.
