(Ordensschnalle). A medal bar for a combatant of the German Wars of Unification who rendered long and distinguished military service, featuring five awards, including:
1. A 1870 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1870”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 42.00 mm (w) x 46.28 mm (h), weighing 17.7 grams, in extremely fine condition; pinned to the ribbon is 25th Jubilee Clasp, constructed of a silver alloy, the obverse consisting of three overlaid oak leaves defaced by a central raised number “25”, retaining all original attachment prongs, without visible marks, measuring 27.21 mm (w) x 17.87 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
2. A Prussian Landwehr Long Service Award, I Class for 20 Years, constructed of silver and Gold, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse overlaid by a central Gold medallion bearing a raised monogram of King Wilhelm I, the reverse overlaid by a central Gold medallion bearing a raised number “20” in Roman numerals, unmarked, measuring 37.27 mm (w) x 41.55 mm (h), weighing 12.1 grams, demonstrating a consistent patina throughout the silver base, in extremely fine condition.
3. A Commemorative Medal for Combatants of 1870/71, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 29.10 mm in diameter, weighing 14.2 grams, in extremely fine condition.
4. A Commemorative Cross for the Main Armee, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 35.55 mm (w) x 40.59 mm (h), weighing 12.4 grams, a poor strike a omitted the left border of the six o’clock arm when viewed from the obverse, in extremely fine condition.
5. A Kaiser Wilhelm I Centenary Medal, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 39.90 mm in diameter, weighing 33.9 grams, in extremely fine condition.
All suspended from a 170 mm-long trapezoidal bar with a bronze core, horizontal pinback, and beige wool reverse liner, unmarked, in extremely fine condition.
