In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
A rare variant of this sword, the 1796 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword was standard for British infantry officers, but surviving variants made for the Honourable East India Company are rare. This example featuring a very well retained straight blade exhibiting bluing throughout and both floral or military etched motifs, measuring 82 cm, with some corrosion to very tip. The knuckle guard has a rounded or mushroom-shaped bosses, unlike the straight knuckle bow of the regular 1796 British pattern, and features East India Company iconography in ornate brass. The black painted steel scabbard in engraved "Fra's Deakin BIRM'M Sword Manufacturer to the Hon, East India Comp, Patent" on the brass throat, with single hole caused by wear, very fine overall.
Footnote: Francis Deakin of Birmingham was a known manufacture and is known to have East India Company commissions.
