Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Awards for Military and Civil Service

(Auszeichnungen). A mixed lot of awards, including:

1. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, the suspension loop maker marked with an illegible Präsidialkanzlei code, measuring 48.40 mm (w) x 48.52 mm (h), weighing 23.9 grams, in very fine condition.

2. A Wehrmacht 4-Year Long Service Award, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon pinned with Heer/Kriegsmarine device, the obverse bearing a central raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “TREUE DIENSTE IN DER WEHRMACHT” (“FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE WEHRMACHT”), the reverse bearing a wreathed number “4”, unmarked, measuring 29.77 mm in diameter, weighing 14.7 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in better than very fine condition.

3. An Infantry Assault Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k rifle with the bayonet attached and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flattened and rounded catch, unmarked measuring 47.27 mm (w) x 62.28 mm (h), weighing 24.1 grams, demonstrating total loss of bronze finish to the base metal, in very fine condition.

4. A Civil Service 25-Year Faithful Service Award, constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central black enameled swastika, the reverse bearing a central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked measuring 42.24 mm (w) x 46.69 mm (h), weighing 21.0 grams, in near mint condition.
