Germany, Third Reich. A German Olympic Games Commemorative Medal, with Case

(Deutsche Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille 1936 mit Etui). Instituted 31 July 1936. (1936-1937 issue). Constructed of silvered magnetic steel, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised column topped by Olympic ring, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, and flanked by a date of “1936”, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTVOLLE MITARBEIT BEI DEN OLYMPISCHEN SPIELEN 1936” (“FOR MERITORIOUS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES OF 1936”), above a cluster of oak leaves, unmarked, measuring 37.27 mm in diameter, weighing 17.4 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux white leather exterior liner, the lid bearing gilt Olympic rings, the interior with a grey rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a fitted grey velvet medal med, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 65 mm (w) x 110 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), demonstrating minor material fatigue to the exterior of the case, in overall extremely fine condition.
