Germany, Luftwaffe. An Officer’s Upgraded Overseas Field Cap

(Luftwaffe Schiffchen für Offiziere). A well-preserved Luftwaffe Officer’s overseas field cap, constructed of dark grey wool with a subtle whipcord weave. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are trimmed along the edge with professionally-applied silver aluminum wire piping, indicating a post-issue promotion to Officer. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a dark grey wool backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 75 mm (w) x 45 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the front also bears a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade measuring 23 mm in diameter. A multi-piece blue-grey cotton/rayon blended cloth liner fully encompasses the interior, and retains a black ink size mark of “58”. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 29 cm (l) x 13 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no notable damage or wear with the exception of minor soiling, this upgraded cap remains in an extremely fine condition.
