A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim impressed 193235 A. SJT. H. DURFY. 15-CAN. INF., light wear to silver finish at 5 o’clock, better than very fine.
A Victory Medal, bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed 193235 A. SJT. H. DURFY. 15-CAN. INF., light wear and loss of gilt, very fine.
Footnote: Harry Durfy was born in Blenheim, Ontario in January 1879. He was residing in Hamilton, with his wife and two daughters, and working as a barber when he joined the war effort. Durfy enlisted on September 2, 1917.
He arrived in England in May 1916 via the Empress of Britain. By October, he was promoted to acting sergeant with pay. He served with the 5th reserve battalion, and transferred to the 12th reserve battalion in February 1918. He was awarded a good conduct strip in August 1918, and was reverted back to private.
He was demobilized in March 1919 and was sent back to Canada.
