Instituted in 1861. (1941- Issue). A Grand Commander set in silver, the sash badge features an eight point star with a singular leaf in each quadrant, the central medallion presents a large white elephant on a gilt background, surrounded by a ring of facets and an exterior ring of red and green and enamel petals, the reverse medallion features the red enamelled cypher with mirroring exterior rings, the badge is surmounted by a large Thai crown suspension, measures 55.0 mm (w) x 91.3 mm (h – inclusive of crown suspension), weighs 41.65 grams, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition. Accompanied by a section of neck ribbon in the case.
The Breast Star of the Order, a sixteen point silver star, the obverse medallion featuring a large white elephant on a gilt background, surrounded by a ring of facets and an exterior ring of red and green enamel petals, a small Thai crown sits on the 12 o’clock ray, the reverse features a single vertical pin assembly, measures 80.5 mm (w) x 80.0 mm (h), weighs 76.79 grams, enamels intact, a lovely star in extremely fine condition.
Contained the original red velvet case, the exterior presents Thai symbol on obverse, the interior silk lid maker marked, black velvet medalbed with ribbon component below, measures 165 mm (w) x 135 mm (h) x 55 mm (d), functional clasp, extremely fine.
