WWI British War Medal - 107th Canadian Infantry KIA

(681053 A CPL. E.T.A. VAUGHAN. 170-CAN INF). Naming is officially impressed. Very crisp detail, dark patina, original ribbon, near mint. Footnote: Edgar Thomas Alfred Vaughan was born on August 22, 1883 in Brighton, Sussex, England. He signed his Attestation Paper on November 20, 1915 in Toronto, Ontario with the 169th Battalion, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was married to Ernestine and that his trade was that of Waiter. He later transferred to the 170th Battalion. Both Battalions were raised and mobilized in Toronto under the authority of G.O. 69, July 15, 1916 and sailed for England on October 26th. While serving with the Canadian Army Service Corps, Vaughan died on May 11, 1917 at the age of 33. He is buried in Bramshott (St. Mary) Churchyard, Hampshire, United Kingdom, Grave I. F. 13.
