The Notable Figures Auction Series - The Estate of SS-Obergruppenführer Arthur Seyss-Inquart

Recently discovered in the attic of his sister’s estate, eMedals Inc. presents the collection of SS-Obergruppenführer Arthur Seyß-Inquart. Encompassing personal documents, insignia, photographs, books, letters, and other unique items, this rare selection is being presented to the collecting community for the first time. Arthur Seyß-Inquart (1892-1946) was Reichsstatthalter (governor) of German-annexed Austria, deputy to the governor of occupied Poland, Hans Frank, and from 1940 to 1945 Reich commissioner of the occupied Netherlands in the rank of SS-Obergruppenführer. An early member of the Austro-fascist movement, Seyß-Inquart became Austrian minister of the interior in 1938 and chancellor in early 1939. He was responsible for ratifying the annexation of Austria by Germany in the so-called “Anschluss”, giving it a legal basis. After the war, Seyß-Inquart was one of the 24 high ranking NSDAP officials indicted in the Nuremberg trials, mainly for his reign of terror in the Netherlands. He was found guilty and executed for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
