Footnote: William Carruthers Hamilton was born on August 23, 1891 in London, Ontario. He was drafted under the Military Service Act of 1917 and signed his Particulars of Recruit Paper on November 20, 1917 in Brandon, Manitoba, with the 1st Depot Battalion, Manitoba Regiment, stating that he was single, that he had no previous military service and his trade was that of Farm Labourer. He was Killed in Action during the Battle of Arras, August 28, 1918 and is buried at the Vis-En-Artois British Cemetery, Haucourt, Pas de Calais, France.
