Germany. A Wehrmacht Combat Engineer Officer Visor Cap, by Peküro

(Baupionier Offizier Schirmmütze). The exterior of the cap is constructed of fine quality thick field gray Mützentrikot with a twill weave consisting of parallel running ribs. It features a traditional high peak crown with tightly seated and even black piping, indicative of Combat Engineers, running along the crown of the cap, as well as the top and bottom edges of the cap band. The cap band itself is constructed of dark green wool. The insignia on the cap consists of a Wehrmacht eagle and a wreath with a cockade. The insignia consist of an officer’s cap eagle, constructed of twisted, rolled, and flat silver aluminum bullion wires in the shape of a traditional German eagle with open wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika in its talons, as well as a bullion cockade, also constructed of twisted, rolled, and flat silver aluminum bullion wires in the shape of two oak branches encircling a bullion tri-colour cockade. Both insignia sit snug on the cap. The visor is crafted of Vulkanfiber with a molded raised ridge running along the brim. It is lacquered in glossy black on the obverse, and is coloured in a light brown on the underside, remaining firmly attached to the cap. The chin cord consists of a main cord crafted of multiple thick strands of twisted bullion cords, as well as two sliders constructed of four strands of thin twisted bullion cord, and is attached to either side of the cap via a silvered pebbled metal (magnetic) button. The interior of the cap is lined in in gray silk, stamped “Peküro” along with “Stirndruckfrei - Deutsches Reichspatent” in black ink on the underside of the crown. Along the edge of the cap is also a brown faux leather sweatband that is perforated towards the front. It measures 245 mm (w) x 280 mm (h). In overall extremely fine condition.
