A Kriegsmarine Officer's Undress Belt & Buckle with Aiguillette and Case

This Kriegsmarine undress belt is constructed out of fine black ribbed moire fabric with black velvet backing; black leather strap sewn on the inside of the belt with pairs of vertically aligned holes with a double claw construction to allow for size adjustment; two dagger hangers were hooked onto two identical metal slides with a 38 mm diameter circular front plate bearing the impression of a lion’s head; small rings at the base to attach the dagger hangers; belt size as adjusted - 97 cm, buckle - 38 mm. Some crinkles in the felt backing, but overall better than very fine condition. The aiguillette is one that belongs to an adjutant Officer (aid to a commander); crafted out of golden colored braided synthetic fiber thread; attachment clip to attach to right shoulder; two pointed aiguillette tips with oak leafs; approximately 62 cm as adjusted; tips slightly corroded due to age but otherwise very fine condition. Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
