(Ordem Militar de Cristo). Instituted in 1319. A brilliant Grand Officer Set, comprising a neck badge in silver gilt, featuring arms of synthetic rubies, with a central superimposed cross of 16 natural rose cut diamonds, worn on a 43.4 mm (w) x 61.3 mm (h), suspended from a silver gilt loop set with silver filigree and 5 diamonds, weighs 29.07 grams, accompanied by a full length red neck ribbon, minor wear, areas of gilt loss on the loop, dark patina to the edge, extremely fine.
The Star of the Order, featuring clusters of faceted rays, the obverse medallion in Gold featuring a red and white enamelled cross set in a Gold ring with white enamelled flowers, encircled by a silver ring set with 10 diamonds, reverse offers a vertical pin assembly, central maker cartouche denoting FREDERICO DA COSTA LISBOA, measures 74.6 mm (w) x 74.3 mm (h), weighs 59.09 grams, enamels intact, lovely patina, of highest quality manufacture, a beautiful star in extremely fine condition.
The Case of Issue, a brown leatherette exterior with detailed metal corners, interior with a blue velvet medalbed with ribbon compartment and pin indents, the lid in peach coloured silk marked FREDERICO COSTA LISBOA, measures 110 mm (w) x 245 mm (h) x 45 mm (d), missing half of clasp closure, functional hinge, wear to exterior and lid, near very fine condition.
