Description

(金鵄勲章, Kinshi Kunshō) Institution Date: February 12, 1890 by Emperor Meiji. An Order of the Golden Kite, VII Class Badge in silver bearing an open winged falcon on the top of the badge, with a plain reverse, measuring at 43.6mm (w) x 56.8mm (h-inclusive of the suspension ball), weighs 36.5 grams. The badge is on its period ribbon with a hook and eye. It is accompanied by a small bow boutineer with a button backing. Both are presented in their original black lacquer case of issue with a purple velvet interior lining and medal bed. The medal is in extremely fine condition.

Footnote: This Order was conferred upon military personnel of the Imperial Army and Navy in recognition of exceptional bravery and leadership during battle. It may be awarded posthumously. This Order was discontinued in 1947.
