Italy, Kingdom. An Order of the Crown, Commander in Gold, with Case

(Ordine della Corona d’Italia). Instituted February 20th, 1868. A lovely decoration, constructed of 18kt Gold, consisting of a white-enamelled hollow construction Gold cross with Gold knots in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a blue enamelled centerpiece bearing a royal crown constructed of white, green, and red enamels, surrounded by a Gold ring, the reverse features a Gold central medallion bearing a black enamelled eagle with a red and white enamelled shield on its chest, surrounded by a matching Gold ring, suspended from a fixed loop and elongated loop, measuring 49.9 mm (w) x 53.3 mm (h), weighs 18.05 grams, worn on an original commander neck ribbon, very minor enamel wear, in extremely fine condition. 

Accompanied by a miniature of the Order in Gold and enamels, surmounting crown, measures 14.8 mm (w) x 17.1 mm (h), enamel chips/discolouration on the obverse arms, very fine. 

All contained in the original case of issue, red velvet exterior with the superimposed crowned monogram of Victor Emmanuel on the lid, interior in silk with a velvet medalbed, measures 170 mm (w) x 170 mm (l) x 30 mm (d), interior silk lid insert is loose and removable, functional clasp and hinge, very fine.
