Italy, Kingdom. An Order of the Colonial Star, Knight in Gold, by Cravanzola

(Ordine coloniale della Stella d'Italia). Instituted in 1914, discontinued in 1943. A lovely Knight in 18K Gold, a white enamelled five point star with small ball finials, the obverse medallion presenting the crowned cypher of Victor Emmanuel on a red enamelled disc encircled by a green enamelled ring dated 1911, the reverse in red bearing the inscription AL MERITO COLONIALE, measures 34.6 mm (w) x 34.3 mm (h), weighs 5.05 grams, worn on original ribbon (slightly torn at apex where suspension ring connects), small enamel cracks and flakes in the green enamel ring remains in very fine condition. 

Contained in the original case, a brown pebbled exterior with crowned VE monogram, silk lid marked E. GARDINO SUCC. D. CRAVANZOLA GIOIELLIERE ROMA, with black velvet medalbed, measures 68 mm (w) x 95 mm (l) x 20 mm (d), functional hinge and clasp, light scuffing to exterior, near extremely fine.
