Italy, Kingdom. An Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus, Knight in Gold

(Ordine dei Santi Maurizio e Lazzaro). Instituted September 16th, 1572. Constructed of 18kt Gold of exceptional jeweler’s quality, consisting of a white enameled Shamrock Cross with green enameled fans in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, suspended from the original green ribbon sewn closed at the top, measures 38.9 mm (w) x 40.8 mm (h), weighs 9.79 grams including ribbon, several hairline cracks around the tips of the arms, remains extremely fine. 

Accompanied by a miniature of the Order, in Gold and enamels, measures 14.3 mm (w) x 15.5 mm (h), weighs 1.17 grams including ribbon, enamels intact, extremely fine. 

Contained in the original case of issue, a green exterior with crowned VE monogram on the lid, interior in purple silk and velvet, measures 57 mm (w) x 93 mm (l) x 17 mm (d), hinge functional, clasp slightly bent but shuts well, light scuffing and wear to edges and corners, remains very fine.
