Description
Description
(Luftwaffe Dienstrock für einen Feldwebel der Fliegertruppe/Fallschirmjäger). A well-preserved Luftwaffe service tunic for a Flight Personnel/Fallschirmjäger Feldwebel, constructed of dark blue-grey wool. It features a turned-down collar which is reinforced on the reverse with machine-stitched darts. The collar is trimmed with a silver aluminum wire tresse, and flanked by tabs constructed of golden-yellow wool and pinned with three aluminum wire gulls, each measuring 35 mm (w) x 50 mm (l). The shoulders are topped by straps which are constructed of dark blue-grey wool/ trimmed with golden-yellow piping, bordered by silver aluminum wire tresses, and pinned with a single silvered metal pip. Each measuring 45 mm (w) x 95 mm (l), the straps are secured in place with loops at the outer edge and with pebbled and grey painted metal buttons on the inner edge. Stitched onto the right cuff is a Technical Specialist badge constructed of dark blue-grey wool, bearing a machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire insignia, and trimmed with a braided golden-yellow threaded border, measuring 100 mm (w) x 45 mm (h). Stitched onto the upper right breast is an insignia consisting of a dark blue-grey wool backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 95 mm (w) x 45 mm (h) and showing factory-original zig-zag stitching. Two side pockets flank the lower waist, each closing with a flap perforated with a reinforced buttonhole meeting a pebbled metal button. The interior is encompassed by a multi-piece grey cotton twill liner, which forms two breast pockets and a single bandage pocket at the lower right flap. The illegible remnant of stamped maker’s mark is visible on the left breast pocket. Otherwise unmarked, the tunic measures approximately 42 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 56 cm, and an overall length of 68 cm when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating only minor material fatigue throughout, this untouched and late-war NCO’s tunic remains in an extremely fine condition.
