Germany, HJ. A Field Cap

(HJ Sommer-Mütze). An extremely well-preserved HJ field cap, constructed of khaki-tan cotton. The cap is fully surrounded by stylized side walls which are trimmed along the seam with red piping. Pinned onto the lower peak is an enameled HJ insignia, measuring 15 mm (w) x 25 mm (h) and marked on the reverse with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker’s code “M1/102” for Frank & Reif, Stuttgart. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece brown oilcloth liner. Stitched onto the crown is a fully-intact Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) label, correctly issued for the HJ field cap, bearing a maker code of “26”. The cap measures approximately 27 cm (l) x 11 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, it remains in an extremely fine condition.
