Canada, CEF. A First War Victory Medal Group to Pte. Harrison, 192nd Battalion

 A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim impressed 898241 PTE. J. R. HARRISON. 192-CAN.INF, very dark patina, minor wear, extremely fine condition. 

A 192 Cap Badge, in browning copper, two lugs on the reverse, marked BLACK CO on reverse, measures 38.7 mm (w) x 45.5 mm (h), light wear, very fine. 

A Certificate of Wear of the War Service Badge, denoting Pte. Harrison as official wearer, dated May 15, 1918, measures 128 mm (w) x 84 mm (h), double sided, very fine. 

Footnote: John Richard Harrison was born on March 19, 1897 in Newcastle, England. He was employed as a clerk in Blairmore when he enlisted on March 7, 1916 with the 192nd Battalion. He was considered an irregular enlistment, as he was taken on while deemed medically unfit. Harrison suffered from kyphosis (an abnormally excessive convex curvature of the spine).  

He was admitted to the military hospital in Bramshott on February 11, 1917. He was transferred to Granville Hospital in Ramsgate the following week, and discharged mid March. He was struck off strength and invalided to Canada at the end of June.
