A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim officially impressed 3255788 PTE. W. P. THORNE. C.S.E.F., light wear, bright, very fine.
A Victory Medal, in bronze gilt, full size, rim officially impressed 3255788 PTE. W. P. THORNE. C.S.E.F., minor wear and loss of gilt, near very fine.
Footnote: Wendell Palmer Thorne was born in 1895, and was a farmer and woodsman when the military service act of 1917 came into effect. He was examined and enlisted in the with the 1st depot battalion on January 21, 1918, in St. John, New Brunswick.
He served in Siberia, arriving in January 1919. He was admitted to the No. 11 Stationary Hospital in February for scabies, being discharged in March.
Thorne returned to Canada on May 21, and was discharged on May 30, 1919 due to demobilization.
