A Memorial Cross, in silver, full size, reverse engraved 703276 PTE. T. BRAND, marked STERLING on reverse, accompanied by a small section of purple ribbon, very fine.

A Memorial Plaque, in bronze, named to THOMAS BROWN BRAND, with BRAND being privately engraved below, research label stuck to reverse, full size, light wear, near very fine. 

A 102nd Battalion Cap Badge, browning copper, reverse bears two lugs, marked TIPTAFT B’HAM, measures 42 mm (w) x 49 mm (h), light wear, very fine.

A 62nd Battalion Cap Badge, in browning copper, reverse presents two slats, marked O.B. ALLAN VANCOUVER, measures 37 mm (w) x 44 mm (h), light wear, very fine. 

Footnote: Robert Gilchrist Brand and Thomas Brown Brand were born to Marion Brand, of Lanark, Scotland. 

R.G. Brand was employed as a dry good salesman, when he enlisted with the 62nd battalion in Vernon, B.C on July 31, 1915. He arrived in England in April 1916, and was transferred to the 7th Battalion shortly after. On June 28, 1916, while serving with the 14th Battalion, he was reported missing from base. As no further details followed, he was officially presumed to have been killed in action on June 12/13, 1916. 

Thomas Brown was a carpenter, who enlisted with the 102nd Battalion on January 12, 1916. 

He was admitted to the No. 13 Field Ambulance on October 26, 1916, after suffering a contusion to the left thigh. 

He was killed in action on November 11, 1916. The circumstances of death record states “This soldier was killed by enemy fire, while with his Battalion in Regina Trench.”
