A British War Medal, silver, full size, rim impressed 129328 L. CPL. A.B.E. ROWE. C.M.G. BDE, replacement ribbon, dark patina to obverse and lower half of reverse, minor wear, very fine.
A Victory Medal, bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed 129328 L. CPL. A.B.E. ROWE. C.M.G. BDE, replacement ribbon, light gilt wear, extremely fine.
Footnote: Arthur Braid Evans Rowe was born in Calcutta India in July 1884. At the time of his enlistment in September 1915, he was residing in Burnaby, B.C and was employed as a merchant. He sailed to England with the 72nd Battalion in April 1916. Rowe was appointed lieutenant corporal in September 1917, and was awarded a good conduct stripe in February 1918. He was transferred to the 4th Canadian Machine Gun Corps in March 1918.
He suffered from a dislocated left knee while playing football in February 1917. Rowe returned to England in May 1919, and sailed home to Canada in June. Rowe passed away in 1940.
