Russia, Imperial. A Silver Medal for the Tercentenary of Luther’s 95 Theses in Finland, by Fyodor Tolstoy

Constructed of silver, the obverse bearing a raised and seated Finnish Maiden resting her arm upon a shield bearing a raised coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Finland, circumscribed by an inscription of “AUSPICIIS FE LIX MAGNIS” (“HAPPY UNDER STRONG PROTECTION”), in turn flanking the monogram of Tsar Alexander I, the reverse bearing a raised female personification of faith, circumscribed by an inscription of “ALABATA RECEPIT PIGNORA” (“SHE HAS FOUND HER LOST CHILDREN”), situated above an inscription of “PLAUDENTE POST TRIA SÆCULA / FENNIA DIE XXXI OCTOBRIS / MDCCCXVII” (“FINLAND APPLAUDS AFTER THREE CENTURIES, 31 OCTOBER 1517”), both the obverse and reverse maker marked with the Latin dedication of Fyodor Petrovich Tolstoy, measuring 55.81 mm in diameter, weighing 74.8 grams, a rare example in extremely fine condition.
