Description

A British War Medal, silver, full size, rim impressed 2368346 PTE. T. GIBSON. C.F.C., minor contact marks to edges, very dark patina, very fine.

A Victory Medal, bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed 2368346 PTE. T. GIBSON. C.F.C., minor contact marks, very fine.

A Canadian Forestry Battalion Cap Badge, in brass, voided, unmarked, measures 40.5 mm (w) x 45.5 mm (h), lugs intact on the reverse, light wear, very fine.

Footnote: Thomas Gibson was born in Durham, England on September 11, 1869. While employed as a clerk in B.C, he had 16 years of experience with the Royal Scots (and Royal Scots Reserves), as well as service in the Boer War and the Home Front. He enlisted on April 28, 1917 in Revelstoke, BC.

In the spring and summer of 1919, he was suffering from various gastric illnesses. He was discharged from service in September 1919. Gibson died of tuberculosis on March 22, 1922.
