A presentation mounted pair, stiff board backing covered by ribbons, measures 70mm (w) x 105 mm (h), comprising:
A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim impressed 460301 A.C.Q.M. DJT. E. HODGE. 44-CAN. INF., light wear to silver finish at 5 o’clock, better than very fine.
A Victory Medal, bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed 460301 A.C.Q.M. DJT. E. HODGE. 44-CAN. INF., light wear, very fine.
Footnote: Edgar Hodge was born in Hants, England in July of 1893. He was employed as a jeweller, and had experience with the 7th battalion in Hants. Hodge enlisted with the 61st Battalion in Winnipeg on June 2nd 1915.
He disembarked in Liverpool in April 1916, and was appointed acting sergeant. In July, he was transferred to the 11th Reserve Battalion, and was later transferred to the 44th battalion in August. In October 1916, he suffered from blistered feet and was sent to the No. 12 Canadian Field Ambulance. He was promoted to Corporal in November 1916.
In April 1919, Hodge was appointed acting company quartermaster sergeant. He returned to Canada in June 1919 via the HMT Mauretania.
