A British War Medal, silver, full size, rim impressed 700786 L. CPL. R.C. WEESE. R.C.R., original ribbon, light wear, near extremely fine.
A Victory Medal, bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed 1078758 SPR. S.E. BROWN. C.R.T., original ribbon, multiple dark spots on the obverse and reverse, light wear, near very fine.
A Canadian Legion Past President, bronze and enamels, worn on original ribbon with PAST PRESIDENT and BRANCH clasps, reverse engraved R.C. WEESE. KELFIELD (SASK #27) 1948., measures 27.0 mm (w) x 32.6 mm (h), extremely fine.
A 101st Infantry Battalion “Winnipeg Light Infantry” Cap Badge, pickled copper, reverse bears two intact lugs and pin, measures 42.6 mm (w) x 44.1 mm (h), light wear, extremely fine.
Footnote: Roy Campbell Weese was born in New York City in May 1887. He was residing in Kilfield, Saskatchewan and employed as a gasoline engineer when he enlisted in June 1915.
Originally serving with the 53rd Battalion, Weese transferred to the 101st Battalion in January 1916. He sailed from Halifax via the S.S. Olympic in September 1916. In October 1916, he was transferred to the 97th Battalion.
He was admitted to the 20 General Hospital after suffering from shell gas in early June 1918. He rejoined the regiment shortly thereafter. In August 1918, he was appointed second corporal. Brown was demobilized in May 1919.
