A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim impressed 739724 PTE. J.J. ROBSON. 1-CAN. INF, original ribbon, lovely patina, extremely fine.
A Victory Medal, bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed 739724 PTE. J.J. ROBSON. 1-CAN. INF, original ribbon, light gilt wear, remains near extremely fine.
A 114th Infantry Battalion “Brock’s Rangers” Cap Badge, in browning copper, intact lugs on reverse, measures 46.3 mm (w) x 46.4 mm (h), light toning, extremely fine.
Footnote: Jesse James Robson was born in Birmingham England, but was residing in Fisherville, Ontario and working as a farm labourer when he enlisted for the Great War in February 1916. Standing at 5’7’’, and at only 18 years of age, Robson joined the 1st Battalion Canadian Infantry. He arrived in France in April 1917.
In May 1917, Pte. Robson was reported missing in action and presumed dead. He is buried at the Vimy Memorial in Pas de Calais, France.
