(Orden de Francisco Miranda). Instituted 1939. Type II. 1943-present. In silver gilt, an eight-pointed star consisting of rays of varying lengths, with obverse centre depicting a finely enameled red medallion inscribed by FRANCISCO DE MIRANDA encircled by a laurel wreath also in silver gilt, reverse with pinback, marked by maker’s mark of N.S MEYER INC. NEW YORK, denoting manufacture of late 1940s, measuring 77.70 mm (w) x 77.45 mm (h), presenting minor stained in the star, otherwise near to mint.

Footnote: The Order of Francisco Miranda was instituted in Venezuela in 1939 to reward Venezuelan citizens and foreign nationals for exceptional merit in science, humanities, and progress of the country. It is also awarded to those who died during the performance of their services to the country.
