In bronze, obverse illustrating the coat-of-arms of the City of Amsterdam, surmounted by a crown and placed upon an altar, the base of the altar engraved ""Joh. van der Mark 1757."" and flanked by horns of plenty on either side, surrounded by the Latin inscription ""HORTI MED AMSTEL LIBER INGRESSUS"", reverse illustrating a standing robed figure holding a staff with an Aesculapian snake wrapped around it, representing medicine, with plants on pedestals on either side, along with Greek-style arches in the background, surrounded by the Latin inscription ""ADEST MAXIMUS AEGRIS AUXILIATOR"", measuring 50.3 mm in diameter, contact marks and surface wear on the face and chest of the figure on the reverse, edge nicks, bruised, fine. 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
