In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

A striking inkwell desk set from the estate of Manfred von Richthofen (the “Red Baron”), constructed of silver, the obverse bearing a finely-engraved von Richthofen coat of arms, situated above a raised floral border, sloping upward to a central raised centrepiece in the form of a stylized Etrich Taube featuring downturned tail and wings, functional swivel propeller, and with a pilot at the helm, affixed to its pedestal with spoked wheels, in turn flanked on each size by retractable floral lids with grape finials, opening to reveal intact glass inkwells (one retaining its original glass cap), the Taube’s malleable wings notably allowing the lids to be fitted behind to remain open during use, stamped with a maker’s mark of “W.M.F.” indicating manufacture by Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, Geislingen, measuring 33 cm (w) x 21.5 cm (l) x 14.5 cm (h), showing a consistent patina throughout, a truly unique memento of Germany’s First World War ace-of-aces demonstrating notable quality and attention to detail, in extremely fine condition.
