(Jewellery, Pendant). Vintage. Crafted in 14kt yellow and white gold, the octagonal shaped pendant features an 1857 S Coronet Head Gold $2.50 Quarter Eagle coin. The coin obverse features the bust of Liberty encompassed by small flowers, below the bust is the date “1857”, encompassed by a reeded border. The reverse of the coin bears the image of an eagle with outstretched wings, with a shield on its chest, clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons, encompassed by the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 2 ½ D.”. The coin is encompassed by twenty four round brilliant and early round brilliant cut diamonds, measuring approximately 2.2-2.1mm, weighing approximately 0.90ct. total, by gauge of VS-SI clarity, G-H colour, medium cut. The top of the pendant bears a loop with a “V” shaped bale attached. Measuring 30.04mm (h) x 27.15mm (w) and weighing 10.3 grams. One diamond is chipped, but goes unnoticeable to the naked eye, in overall extremely fine condition.
This item is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Gem Grade Appraisal Service. Gem Grade is a renowned Toronto based appraisal service, with GIA graduate gemologist, in business for over 20 years.
The appraisal states a $4,500 CAD suggested insurance coverage.
