Germany, Heer. A Wehrmacht Drill/Work Jacket

(Wehrmacht Drillich/Arbeitsjacke). An example of a Wehrmacht drill/work jacket, constructed of off-white cotton herringbone twill (HBT). It features a traditional turned-down collar which transitions into double breast lapels. The cuff of each sleeve has a vertical slit that closes shut with two bakelite buttons for an adjustable fit. There is a set of three reinforced eyelets with a slit in each armpit, with an additional five vertical eyelets on both sides at waist height for the optional accommodation of a belt hanger. It closed in the front with five bakelite buttons, which are now missing. The interior is unlined, stamped “45, 44, 90, 68, 67” in black ink on the inside along the left flap. It measures approximately 44 cm across the shoulders (seam to seam), with a sleeve length of 62 cm, and an overall length of 65 cm. Depicting light age appropriate soiling from age, missing the front buttons, in overall near very fine condition.
