(Orden Nacional de José Matias Delgado). Instituted August 14 1946. In silver gilt and enamels, a grand cross sash badge with blue and white enamels, blue-enameled cross with obverse gilt centerpiece depicting the profile of José Matías Delgado, with five emanating rays in each quadrant, reverse centerpiece reads HONOR A LOS PRÓCERES DE LAS INDEPENDENCIA SALVADOREÑA, surmounted by a wreath, measuring 50.87mm (w) x 80.8 mm (h - inclusive of integral ball atop wreath suspension), marked “AB&Cie” on the ring and integral suspension of cross denoting manufacture by Arthus Bertrand, edge of the 6 o’clock arm marked “Vermeil”, accompanied by a modern full length sash, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition.
The I Class Star, in silver gilt, presents an eight point star with three singular smooth rays in each quadrant, the insignia of the order superimposed on top (blue-enameled cross with obverse gilt centerpiece depicting the profile of José Matías Delgado, with five emanating rays in each quadrant), the reverse bears a single vertical pin and a small cartouche denoting HONOR A LOS PRÓCERES DE LAS INDEPENDENCIA SALVADOREÑA, the pin is marked “AB&Cie” denoting manufacture by Arthus Bertrand, measures 69.7 mm (w) x 70.1 mm (h), enamels intact, in extremely fine condition.
