Description
Description
A lot of five German-Made Argentine M1909 bayonets, each measuring approximately 53.5 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. Each features a 40 cm-long magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and lower edge. All blades have a wide fuller running the majority of the length of both sides. The reverse ricasso of all of the blades is stamped with a maker’s mark of “WEYERSBERG, KIRSCHBAUM & CIE, SOLINGEN”, while the obverse of each blades features an Argentine issue mark for the year 1909, along with serial numbers, three of five matching the accompanying scabbards. All five bayonets have structurally-sound multi-piece hilts, with magnetic metal crossguards featuring barrel holes and hooked quillons and hollow insertion slots set into the pommels retaining functional push-button spring releases. The handle grips consist of two pieces of dark brown wood fixed in place with dual magnetic metal rivets. All are accompanied by scabbards constructed of magnetic metal shafts with matte grey or black finishes, and with flattened side studs for the addition of frogs. All demonstrating minor issues consistent with age and field wear, include some running marks and pitting to the blades, surface oxidation of the metal elements, scratching of the wooden handle grips, and some loss of finish to the scabbards. A superb collection of German-made Argentine Army bayonets produced by an officially contracted manufacturer in near extremely fine condition.
