C. 1914. A promotional document signed by 28th President, Woodrow Wilson and Secretary of the Navy, Josephus Daniels, to Warner W. Bayley, promoting him to Ensign in the Navy, dated June 19th, 1914.
It reads “Woodrow Wilson, President of the United States of America, to all who shall see these presents, greeting: Know ye, that reposing special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity, and abilities of I have nominated, and by and with the advice consent of the Senate, do appoint him an Ensign in the Navy from the 6th day of June 1914 in the service of the United States. He is therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duty of Ensign by doing and performing all manner of things thereunto belonging…Given under my hand, at Washington this nineteenth day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen and in the 138th year of the Independence of the United States”.
It is signed by 28th US President, Woodrow Wilson, as well as Secretary of the Navy, Josephus Daniels in ink. Measuring 392 mm (w) x 494 mm (h). With small rips and tears along the edge of the document, but without major stains or damage, in overall better than very fine condition.
