A lot of four French military medals and awards, consisting of:
1. A War Cross for Foreign Operational Theaters (Croix de guerre des théâtres d'opérations extérieures). Instituted April 30th, 1921. Constructed of bronze, consisting of a Cross Pattée with straight arms, with crossed swords in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a circular medallion with the rightward facing effigy of the Republic (Marianne) wearing a cap decorated with a laurel wreath, surrounded by a ring bearing the inscription “République Française” in capital letters, the reverse inscribed “Théâtres D'opérations Extérieures” in capital letters, suspended from a horizontally pierced ball and swivel ring from its period-original ribbon bearing a Bronze Star (for regimental or brigade level citations), measuring 37.3 mm (w) x 45.8 mm (l), with evidence from previous collector mounting on the reverse of the award and on the ribbon.
2. A War Cross 1939-1945 (Croix de guerre 1939-1945). Instituted September 26th, 1939. Constructed of bronze, consisting of a Cross Pattée with straight arms, with crossed swords in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a circular medallion with the rightward facing effigy of the Republic (Marianne) wearing a cap decorated with a laurel wreath, surrounded by a ring bearing the inscription “République Française” in capital letters, the reverse inscribed “1939”, suspended from a horizontally pierced ball and swivel ring from its correct replacement ribbon, measuring 38.1 mm (w) x 46.3 mm (l).
3. An Indochina Campaign Commemorative Medal (Médaille commémorative de la campagne d'Indochine). Instituted August 1st, 1953. Constructed of a circular bronze medal, the obverse inscribed “Indochine” in capital letters supported by a seven headed cobra, with a three headed elephant surrounded by the relief semi circular inscription “République Française” in capital letters along the medal circumference, the reverse bears a laurel and oak leaf wreath surrounded by the inscription “Corps Expéditionnaire Française D’extrême Orient” (French Far East Expeditionary Corps) in capital letters, suspended from a swivel suspension device consisting of a bronze twisted dragon from its period original ribbon, measuring 36.2 mm in diameter.
4. A Commemorative medal for Voluntary Service in Free France (Médaille commémorative des services volontaires dans la France libre). Instituted April 4th, 1946. Constructed of silvered bronze in the shape of a Cross of Lorraine, the obverse with the relief inscription “France” and “Libre” in capital letters, the reverse inscribed with the dates “18 Juin 1940” and “8 Mai 1945”, suspended from an integral suspension ring and a correct replacement ribbon, measuring 29.6 mm (w) x 46.7 mm (l), with evidence from previous collector mounting on the reverse of the award and on the ribbon.
