United States. A Signed Photograph of “The Big Four” at the 1955 Geneva Summit

A framed black and white photograph of “The Big Four” (left to right: Nikolai Bulganin, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Edgar Faure, and Anthony Eden) at the 1955 Geneva Summit, signed by each individual on the cardstock frame that surrounds the photograph, the reverse with label reading “Please autograph and return to Ken Browne - Woodbury County Savings Bank, Sioux City, Iowa, United States of America”, measuring 293 mm (w) x 218 mm, with all four tips creased, and with some moisture spots on the bottom of the cardstock frame, in overall near very fine condition. 

Footnote: On December 19th, 1955, President Dwight D. Eisenhower of the United States, Prime Minister Anthony Eden of the United Kingdom, Premier Nikolai A. Bulganin of the Soviet Union, and Prime Minister Edgar Faure of France, known as the 'Big Four', attended the Geneva Summit. Also in attendance was Nikita Khrushchev of the Soviet Union. The goal of the 1955 summit was to reduce international tensions. The Geneva Summit was seen as an extremely important building block to better friendships and more open communication between the leaders of "The Big Four". The creation of an international community was introduced as a way to help relieve global tensions and mistrust. This community would form the critical foundation of a unified world in which minimal barriers to trade and common interests would serve to engender diplomacy. Topics such as East-West trade agreements, tariffs, the arms race, international security and disarmament policy were all addressed to some extent.
