In bronze gilt, number impressed "8213" on the edge, measuring 33.5 mm in diameter, gilt wear evident on the reverse, original ribbon with pinback, near extremely fine.

Footnote: The adjutant general was instructed to prepare and distribute a service badge and ribbon to each officer and enlisted man of the National Guard of New York who served in the field for more than ten days under the order of the Governor dated June 19, 1916. The medal was also awarded to each officer and enlisted man who resided in the state of New York at the time of enlistment and served in the army, navy of marine corps on the Mexican border or in Mexico between June 18, 1916 and April 5, 1917. The sum of $1,000 was appropriated for this purpose. New York supplied nine infantry regiments, three artillery regiments and many support units with a total strength of 22,665. The medals are usually found with a number impressed on the edge.
