(Ordre National d'Honneur et de Mérite). Instituted in 1926. Type II (Post 1932). Grand Cross Badge: multi-piece construction, in silver gilt with blue and white enamels, unmarked, measuring 64.5 mm (w) x 71.5 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, traces of gilt remains on the obverse centrepiece and is missing on the reverse centrepiece, on its original full-length sash that incorporates a decorative moiré pattern and features a large bow-tie; Breast Star: multi-piece construction, in silver, hallmarked with a crab and maker marked on the pin, measuring 83.8 mm (w) x 85 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, dark patina. Near extremely fine.
Footnote: The National Order of Honour and Merit was instituted on May 28, 1926. It is the highest honour of merit awarded by the President of the Republic of Haiti, awarded to acknowledge distinction in not only the realms of diplomacy and politics but also the arts, charitable works and other fields of benefit or interest to Haiti, to both Haitians and foreign nationals, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
