Canada. First and Second War Group of Three, Captain Walter Nelson Nicholls, 3rd Infantry Battalion, Divisional Ammunition Park
British War Medal (CAPT. W.N. NICHOLLS.); Victory Medal (CAPT. W.N. NICHOLLS.); and War Medal 1939-1945. Naming is officially impressed on the First War pair, the War Medal 1939-1945 is un-named as issued. Mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, the First War pair with replacement ribbons, the War Medal 1939-1945 with its original ribbon, contact marks, very fine.
Footnote: Walter Nelson Nicholls was born on July 16, 1881 in Toronto, Ontario. He signed his Attestation Paper as a Lieutenant with the 3rd Infantry Battalion, on September 22, 1914 at Valcartier Camp, at the age of 33, naming his next-of-kin as his father, Frederic Nicholls of Toronto, stating that he had four months' previous service as a Lieutenant with the Queen's Own Rifles, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Contractor. He was later transferred to a Division Ammunition Park and promoted to the rank of Captain. For his First World War service, he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He performed home service during the Second World War and was awarded the War Medal 1939-1945. He died on June 4, 1954, at the age of 72.
