In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Hardshelled design on the lid and base, the lid padded, with a deep red thatched-look exterior on all six sides, inscribed in gold-coloured ink "NEWFOUNDLAND VOLUNTEER SERVICE MEDAL" within a gold-coloured rule, inside lid in beige satin, padded and maker marked "ROYAL MINT", base with an insert in beige felt incorporating a recessed medal bed, hinged along the rear edge, measuring 88 mm (w) x 108 mm (h) x 20.5 mm (d), extremely fine.
Footnote: The Newfoundland Volunteer War Service Medal was designed by Ian H. Stewart CM (who was at that time Senior Designer in Residence at Memorial University in St John's, Newfoundland). It was issued to those who did not receive a volunteer war service medal from another country, including Canada, and who had volunteered and served in units or organizations contributed by the Dominion of Newfoundland to the allied war effort. The period of qualifying service was from September 3, 1939 through September 2, 1945.
