Description

In silver, reverse engraved B.63637 SGT. R.P. McKENNA, marked LACKIE STERLING on the reverse 6 o’clock arm, no ribbon, light wear, very fine.

Footnote: Robert Patrick McKenna was born on June 7, 1914 in Toronto, Ontario. He was employed as a travelling salesman for Beatty Bros in Fergus, Ontario, with several years experience with the Queens Own Rifles of Canada (as of 1936). McKenna enlisted on June 12, 1940.

He travelled to Halifax, to Scotland, and on to France as of June 1944.

He was promoted to Acting Sergeant (without pay) in August 1940, which was reverted two weeks later. He was then promoted to Corporal on April 8 1944.

Sergeant Robert Patrick McKenna was killed in action on August 10th, 1944, in France.
