A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim officially impressed 213681 PTE. F. MILLS. 20-CAN.INF., residue on obverse, light contact marks, very fine condition.

A Victory Medal, in bronze gilt, full size, rim officially impressed 213681 PTE. F. MILLS. 20-CAN.INF., very minor contact marks, remains in extremely fine condition.

A 99th Infantry Battalion "Essex Battalion" Officer's Cap Badge, in pickled copper, reverse presents two lugs, measures 40.8 mm (w) x 47.7 mm (h), light contact, lovely patina, extremely fine condition.

Footnote: Frederick Mills was born in Manchester, England in 1888. He enlisted for the Great War in Windsor, Ontario in January 1916. He arrived in England via the SS Olympic in June of the same year. He was then transferred to the 35th Battalion, then to the 20th Battalion. He was attached to the 4th Canadian Infantry Brigade Trench Mortar Battery in October 1916. Mills was killed on December 30, 1916, by the premature explosion of a stokes gun. He is buried at Loos British Cemetery in France.
