A Medal bar of two decorations, measures 63.2 mm in width, with a horizontal pin on the reverse, comprising:
A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim officially impressed 761103 PTE. J. FOWLER. 102-CAN.INF., light wear, very fine condition.
A Victory Medal, in bronze gilt, full size, rim officially impressed 761103 PTE. J. FOWLER. 102-CAN.INF., minor contact marks and gilt wear, near very fine condition.
Footnote: John Fowler was born in Shropshire, England in March 1879. He was employed as a car inspector in East Vancouver when he enlisted for the Great War in February 1916. He initially joined the 11th regiment.
In April 1917, while serving with the 102nd Battalion at Vimy Ridge, Fowler was admitted to the No.3 General Hospital in Boulogne after suffering a gunshot wound to the head, arm, and leg. He was transferred to Shorncliffe Military Hospital a few days later. He was discharged in February 1918 after being deemed medically unfit. He was wounded in the left leg, neck and two fingers had been amputated from his left hand.
