 A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim impressed 288005 A. L. CPL. R.E. BURCH. 78-CAN.INF., original ribbon, dark patina on obverse, extremely fine. 

A Victory Medal, bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed 288005 A. L. CPL. R.E. BURCH. 78-CAN.INF., original ribbon, light gilt wear, very fine. 

A 221st Battalion Cap Badge, in pickled brass, voided, maker marked "DINGWALL" on the reverse, measuring 41.5 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), scattered wear in the pickled finish, very light contact, near extremely fine.

Footnote: Reginald Edward Burch was born in Stratford, Ontario in 1873. He was employed as an insurance manager, with experience with the 106th regiment, when he enlisted on March 6, 1916. He arrived in Liverpool in April 1917, and was transferred to the 11th C.R. Bn. In June 1917, he was transferred to the 78th Battn Overseas. 

Burch was killed in action on October 30, 1917. The circumstances of death reads “He was instantly killed by a direct hit of an enemy shell of large calibre.”
