Instituted March 25th, 1916. A circular silver medal, suspended from a single-toe claw attached to the center of the award with a slotted bar, suspended from its period-original ribbon (with evidence of previous collector’s mounting), the obverse depicts the leftward facing effigy of King George V and is circumscribed by his name and title, the reverse is inscribed “For Bravery in the Field” in capital letters, surrounded by a laurel wreath and surmounted by the royal cypher and imperial crown, impressed “5096 SJT. A. Cliff I/Linc. R.” along the edge, measuring 36.4 mm in diameter, weighing 35.42 grams, with pleasant patina from age and wear, in overall better than very fine condition.
Footnote: Albert Cliff (5096) was a Sergeant of the 1st Battalion in the Lincolnshire Regiment. He is the recipient of the Military Medal, British War Medal, and the Victory Medal.
