(Polgári Honvédelmi Érdemkereszt). Instituted in late 1944. A Cross Pattée constructed of a silver-bronze alloy, the obverse with a central medallion depicting the Hungarian Coat of Arms within a laurel wreath, the reverse inscribed “A Honvédelemért 1944” (For National Defence 1944) in Hungarian, on a fixed loop and swivel ring for suspension from an incorrect replacement ribbon, measuring 42.5 mm (w) x 42.4 mm (l), weighing 19.97 grams. Accompanied by its case of issue, constructed of a lightweight wooden core with a dark green, textured, faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with the Hungarian Coat of Arms within a laurel wreath, the interior of the lid lined with padded silk, with a functional exterior metal hinge, intact interior fabric hinge cover, and functional exterior metal clasp closure, with a recessed off-white felted medal bed for secure seating of the award, measuring 65 mm (w) x 106 mm (l), with contact marks on the award from age and wear, in overall near very fine condition.
